I always though it would be neat to go to the Smithsonian, but never gave it much though. But I just found out they've got Julia's Kitchen. Now I REALLY want to go. I'd love to see Julia Child's kicthen, even if it's in a museum.
There's a nifty article about it here.

Thanks to all the people who answered my lomo question. I'll be making a trip to the local Walgreens for some film developing very soon.

I said the f-word in front of my Mum tonight.
I know...to some, not a big deal. But I'm not one who lets expletives fly. It's not like I never swear, I'm selective about my use of 4 letter words in my everyday speech. But this week has been so awful (and need I remind you, it's only Tuesday), it just slipped out at dinner tonight.
Why would I be using the f-word at dinner?
First, there was the Musee closing (see yesterday's entry) which has me a bit down. Add a favorite co-worker with a very sick relative and you feel a bit worse. To top everything off, I'm dealing with my taxes.
(Warning: mention of boring tax forms and retirement funds ahead)
I THOUGHT I was getting a fairly large sum back. In fact, I already got it back. A week or so later, I get a form that I should have received around the time I got my W-2 (it has to do with me cashing out my 401K from my old job). So now I've been overwhelmed by a pile of forms in order to ammend my already filed taxes. It turns out I have to give back some of my tax return AND I have to pay a penalty for early withdrawl on my old 401K. Nice!
At this point, I'm surprised the f-word is the only word that involuntarily slipped out at dinner.
Completely unrelated:
Do any of you Lomo people know if you can get lomo film developed anywhere (like say, the local drugstore)? Or do you have to send it away to lomo.com?
Send responses to [email protected], Thanks.

I had been thinking earlier this morning that today kind of, well, sucks. Driving to work this morning without any traffic confirmed my suspicion that I'm probably one of the small handful of people that actually had to work today. And then, I was reading Megan's blog and discovered that the Musee Mecanique is closing. And that just tops the day off and assures me that today really bites. And it's only 10:30.
We used to live up the street from the Musee Mecanique. My brother and I would walk through Sutro Park and then dart across the great highway to get to Sutro Baths and the Musee. I spent many an afternoon running around the baths and then wasting a whole handful of quarters on the newer video games in the back of the Musee . I still miss that place. I miss living there, so close to the beach, the baths and the arcade. And now it's going away. It feels like part of my childhood is dying.
What a way to start off the week.

Kellie! and I went shopping for japanese stationery and other fun things on Saturday. I bought some pens.
I also bought a couple of other things, I'll share:
"Usa Colle and Friends"
The only english on the little notebook I bought was "Being seen makes us happy and dressing up is fun". My guess is that they're little cats dressed up in costumes. There was stuff with dogs and bunnies too.

Little cats in desserts:
There was no english on the little note pad I bought, so I have no idea what's going on here. There are cats in strawberry shortcake and pies and cakes and eclairs. Odd, but disgustingly cute.
